Play Day is returning to Elmbridge this week.
The annual celebration of children’s right to play will take place at the Play Boats in Hurst Park, East Molesey from 11am to 4pm on Wednesday (August 8).
There will be a wide range of free activities on offer for children, including arts and crafts, sports, water games, a silent disco and a picnic.
Jan Fuller is the portfolio holder for leisure and cultural services at Elmbridge Borough Council.
“Playing might sound like fun but for children it is also vital to their development,” she said.
“Playing is how children discover the world around them and practise the skills they will need later in life.
“In Elmbridge, we understand how important play is for children but we also want the whole family to join in and spend a thoroughly enjoyable time by the river.
“We made sure there is something for everyone, so why don’t you come down, bring a picnic and join in the fun.”
Children under the age of eight must be accompanied by an adult.
Children over eight years old can attend without an adult if they wish. In this case, parents should call to book and they will be supervised by borough council play workers.
