Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust has started to publish patient ratings for its hospitals online.
The scores for Epsom, St Helier and Sutton Hospitals – which come from the national NHS Choices website – can be found at www.epsom-sthelier.nhs.uk/ratings.
At the moment, 77% of patients at Epsom Hospital would recommend the facility to a friend, based on 27 votes.
The score is 70% for St Helier Hospital, based on 30 votes, and 80% for Sutton Hospital, based on five votes.
The trust is also publishing ratings of other local hospitals, including Kingston Hospital and St Peter’s Hospital in Chertsey.
All of the scores will be updated on a monthly basis.
The trust said that the move was part of a drive to encourage more patients to give feedback about the care they receive at its hospitals.
Antony Tiernan, is the director of communications and corporate affairs at Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust.
“According to our latest ratings, the vast majority of our patients would recommend our hospitals to a friend,” he said.
“However, whilst these figures compare well with other local and national hospitals, we’re committed to getting our ratings to as close to 100% as possible.
“I’d like to encourage as many of our patients as possible to give their feedback via the NHS Choices website – it not only helps us understand what we are doing well and where we could improve, it also helps other people make an informed choice about which hospital they would like to go to.
“And, if you would like to leave feedback but would prefer not to leave your details, you can remain anonymous.”
