Local cup ties called off due to waterlogged pitches
24 Jan 2012

Walton & Hersham's rearranged Surrey Senior Cup tie against Lingfield at Stompond Lane and Molesey FC's Southern Combination Cup clash with Hanworth Villa at Walton Road have both been postponed because of waterlogged pitches.

Two local football matches involving sides from Elmbridge have been postponed.

Walton & Hersham’s rearranged Surrey Senior Cup tie against Lingfield at Stompond Lane tonight (Tuesday) has fallen victim to a waterlogged pitch.

The third round clash was originally meant to be played last Tuesday (January 17) but was called off because some areas of the pitch were still frozen.

The two sides will try again next Tuesday evening (January 31).

This evening’s Southern Combination Cup tie between Molesey FC and Hanworth Villa at Walton Road has also been postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

A new date for the match has yet to be confirmed.

One game that is going ahead tonight is Metropolitan Police FC’s clash with Thamesmead Town in the fifth round of the London Senior Cup.

The tie, which is being played at Imber Court, will kick off at 7.45pm.
