A rain-interrupted LV= County Championship Division One clash between Nottinghamshire and Surrey at Trent Bridge ended in a draw on Saturday (July 21).
The match began last Wednesday (July 18), with the visitors winning the toss and deciding to bowl first.
They then reduced the home side to 84/5, as Riki Wessels (23), Alex Hales (14), Michael Lumb (12), Samit Patel (9) and James Taylor (16) were all dismissed.
Adam Voges and Chris Read led the recovery and, after two rain delays, Nottinghamshire reached 178/5, with Voges on 38* and Read on 49*.
A hail storm then struck Trent Bridge and play was abandoned for the day at 5.20pm.
Thanks to the weather, no play was possible on days two and three of this contest but the players did get back out onto the field on the final day.
Voges and Read eventually departed for 59 and 98 respectively, while Ben Phillips scored 57 as Nottinghamshire were bowled out for 328.
Stuart Meaker ended up with figures of 5/78 for Surrey.
The visitors proceeded to reach 252/6 by the close of play – with Rory Burns scoring 79 and Jason Roy hitting 83 – as the match ended in a draw.
The result leaves Surrey in seventh position in Division 1 of the LV= County Championship, with 72 points from 10 matches.
Their next game in the competition is against sixth-placed Lancashire at Edgbaston from Friday (July 27).
